Breaking Plateaus: A Technological and Physiological Weight-training System
Introduction
If you are anything like me, you always look for ways to better yourself, which is probably the reason you pursued the sport of bodybuilding. When you began weightlifting to complement your efforts, you progressed by leaps and bounds in both size and strength. However, after training for several years your growth spurts ceased. You may look great from your past efforts; however, if you are honest, you wish you could achieve more. In spite of your serious commitment, your growth plateaued for months and perhaps years. You may be wondering, "How does this guy know me so well?" The answer is simple. All bodybuilders hit plateaus at one time or another, and most will remain there for the rest of their lifting career. The problem, and the reason why I wrote this book, is few athletes understand the physiology behind shattering a plateau for continuation of growth.
There are unlimited myths concerning proper training. These myths are usually supported by huge monsters that can only accredit their growth to high-powered illegal substances, whether or not they admit it. However, this book is grounded in laws governing exercise physiology, and if you follow the plan outlined, you will start growing again. Most importantly, you will make the fastest amount of growth in the time frame you select.
Target Population
This book is designed for experienced bodybuilders, athletes, personal trainers, and coaches looking to make the fastest amount of growth. For this reason, there are no examples or demonstration pictures of how to do certain movements. I assume you already have experience, and your needs are greater than that of a beginner. However, if you are a beginner, do not put this book down. I recommend you supplement this book with one of the 3 million books explaining basic weight-bearing exercises.
What Is Covered in This Book?
For starters, I will show you how to use computer technology via Microsoft Excel 98 to monitor the net worth of your routine [27]. I have included the knowledge of how to construct routines, when to execute them, and when to change them, along with manipulating positive and negative caloric intake to trigger growth. In addition, there are different overloading strategies and detailed analyses of recuperation. You will also find information on nutrition and fat reduction, maintaining an electronic dietary journal and photo diary, as well as training weak body parts. Afterwards, there is a section on home gyms and choosing a gym suited for your needs. Lastly, spiritual development, and how it affects physical development will be discussed.
How Should You Use This Book?
To get the most out of this text, I recommend you read the entire book. Each section has beneficial information. You may already know a lot on a given subject; however, I may frame it in a different light, which I believe will contribute to your breakthrough. At times, I frame training strategies in different contexts in order to bring further clarity. Secondly, if you do not understand a term, consult the glossary (Appendix J). I am not targeting the beginner, and do not want to bore you with physiological definitions.
