Transforming Greg Day Two – Purging The Cupboards

To begin, one of the key steps in transforming Greg is cleaning out all the food that got him here in the first place. This includes many of the food items in his cupboards, refrigerator, and freezer. I want him to bot have easy access to foods that will be strictly off limit. The risk to cheat therefore is reduced and unlikely to happen. (not to say he won’t cheat, we will get to that later)

He is going on a lean protein slow digesting carbohydrate diet and it seemed like we emptied almost a ton of food out his house. All in total, we removed 12 plastic bags of food. Four of these bags was just cereal, many which I think he forgot he even had. He had at least 10 bottles of jelly, which for a diabetic is complete opposite of types of food he should be eating. The food in general was processed and full of refined sugar. The typical American staples.

Cleaning out the food he is use to eating is key to his transformation. This is not only a transformation but an education if clean eating. We are going to go shopping fill back up his frig and cupboards with the items he should be eating. He will learn what he should buy on a weekly basis and what items to avoid.

My own transformation was closely related to my education about food. It goes hand and hand. The more you know about how food interacts with your body, the chances are the better choices you will make when you are buying food. You will need to get educated if you are to make a lasting change.

(No worry the food won’t go to waste. It was brought to my work where it will be consumed by my coworkers like a pack of ravage dogs.)

Transforming Greg – Day One

Who is Greg?  He is a 62 year old 247 pound man, 5′ 9″ with diabetes.  He has struggled with weight and has been adding weight slowly for the last 40 years.  For a while he never tested his sugar and he loves a good pancake breakfast. Transforming him to a more healthy future retiree is the goal.

This is planned to be a day to day account of his transformation. This will include his workout, his diet, his setbacks and his results.

Day one is really just getting him to commit to the transformation. He knows that he must make a change. He has a recent grandson and nothing for him is better than seeing him play and grow. The fact is though all previous attempts have with out a doubt be unsuccessful. He has terrible cravings and poor eating habits. He is unaware of food interacts in his body and truly what he should eat to lose weight.

The goal is not to only lose the weight but change his body and metabolism. Also, to allow him to change his body so that he is a calorie burning machine able to eat some of his old favorites from time to time without the worry of gaining back his old weight.

He wants to lose 50 plus pounds and this is definitely going to take some a couple months, possibly even longer without a full commitment. Please follow us as I encourage and track his performance.
